As a heartfelt thank you to STARS for the care they provided to Chris, his family and friends came together to honor his memory by fundraising in support of STARS. This effort led to the creation of an annual golf tournament dedicated to raising funds in his name. The original goal was to raise $250,000 to have the CL88 logo featured on STARS helicopters. Thanks to many years of generous community support, that goal has been exceeded. The CL88 logo will be proudly displayed on the YEG and YYC helicopters in the summer of 2026.

Ongoing goal: Raise $15,000 annually to maintain the CL88 logo on a STARS helicopter.

As a charitable, non-profit organization; they rely on government, corporate and community support in order to provide a safe, rapid, highly specialized emergency medical transport system for the critically ill and injured.
Facts:
- An average flight costs $5,400 with $1000 of that total going towards fueling the helicopter alone
- Expenses per base are approximately $10 million a year
- Medical equipment for the helicopter is $1000 per aircraft
- Patients transported by helicopter ambulance are more likely to survive than those transported by ground ambulance, even though they are more severely injured
